Why not post about some of the yummy foods we picked up at the market? After all, some were quite pretty. Do you know Pastille Leone ? Let me give you a little introduction. Leone is one of the very first confection producers in Italy. Located in Torino, Flavors today ranging from Green Tea, Absinthe... the Green Fairy Elixir,Violet... for Spring Lovers, Coffee... The Italian Espresso, and Anise... Aromatic Freshness, just to name a few. Their motto is "Since 1857 the King of Sweetness". I was first introduced to the candy while on a trip to Italy with my cousins, while I was in eighth grade... seems so long ago. Even then I was attracted to their beautiful paper wrapped boxes. So, naturally, when I found these tins, equally as beautiful as the paper boxes I flipped. Pretty shades of pastel, Italian words in beautiful vintage typography. How could I not get them?
San Pellegrino's Aranciata... is always a favorite among the Messina household.
Along with Nutella, and in a collectible "La Pantara Rosa" glass too! My girls were loving this! Somehow, even a cartoon, "The Pink Panther" sounds romantic when said in Italian. Amazing how that happens with even the most un-romantic of things.
Some yummy alternatives to Balsamic vinegar. Can not wait to try the Blood Orange. Finally some fig and cocoa spread.... for toast in the morning. Sure to make breakfast more of a treat!
I'm really curious as to where to find the Italian candy's online?? I care for my 81 yr old mother and my hubby is also Sicilian . I'd love to find some of this candy for my mom and hubby for Christmas!! I LOVE all the lovely's on your blog!! It is so inspiring here and I have marked this a favorite place to visit!!
Hugs,
Dawn Marie
