Over the weekend, I had a chance to visit one of my very favorite flea markets. I came home with a few finds. These vintage pair of little girl's pointe shoes, being my favorite. When I spotted them, I knew I had to have them! Not only because they are pure adorable, but my girls are starting ballet lessons tomorrow! I could not believe my luck! Serendipity for certain!! Now, that trunk of pink tutus and tights, usually reserved for dress up, will be their Wednesday evening uniform.... For some reason, I am thinking, they will be wishing every night could be ballet night!! The shoes were actually really, well, filthy. I overlooked that, and went ahead and bought them anyhow. When I got home, I took a deep breath, sprayed them with some stain remover, and threw them in the washing machine on "gentle". Guess what? As you can tell, most of the filth is gone, there is just enough now to keep them looking like brand new. And now, I call it character, not filth. So, glad I did not pass them up just because of their extreme filth!
How exciting Gabrielle. I'm sure the girls can hardly stand the wait. Chloe and Abby both tried ballet, Abby outlasted Chloe by a couple years. I just loved to watch my girls on stage. Have fun, just wait for their first performance---bring your kleenex and hold hands with your husband.

This is Paige, Jo's assistant. I am just admiring your beautiful blog. I have to say that I can't bear to part with my first (and only, as I gave up Ballet shortly after) pair of toe shoes. I hope my little girl with follow in my footsteps (well, not give up, but you know what I mean!). Good luck to your girls! Your blog is wonderful BTW.

Paige, I am really hoping my girls stick with it. I, like you, as a child gave it up rather easily. I am not going to make it easy for them to give it up, though! Good luck with that little girl of yours and thanks for the sweet comments on my blog!

Thanks for adding the new information, as well as your analysis. This is why your blog is one of the few I read that I also ever bother to comment on. I don't do it to hear myself talk - I do it because I know you actually listen.

Great write up. It is indeed the chance encounters with friends that can be really enjoyable.
