About a month or so ago, the plan was to make two new wreaths for my front doors. Of course, I was going for a vintage look. Just, could not use vintage. We do not have a covered porch and the weather would destroy my beloved vintage ornaments. So, I kept vintage items to a very, very minimum. I went about, gathering everything I needed from my bins of Christmas junk... errr, decorations. Two white wreaths, both spray painted cream, two silver wreath... (bought from Target's dollar spot... for 2 dollars or so. The only items I didn't have in my stash.) Originally, they were a shiny silver. I "tarnished" them with a little gold-ish/ silver-ish spray paint.
(Please pay no mind to this very odd hued photo...) I had lots of these gold stars on hand from past Christmas', never used. There were pretty flocked branches of pine and pink berries galore. Ended up not using the berries or pine, sometimes, things just aren't as planned...
I made ribbon flowers from some inexpensive ribbon.
Simply cross the ribbons like this.
Gather and tape with florist tape.
These were an inexpensive space filler in the wreath.
Have you read Country Living's Merry and Bright? Such a wonderful book filled with all sorts of inspiration for the holidays. It's a very favorite of mine when I'm looking for inspiration for crafting at Christmas and is where I originally saw two wreaths nestled into one! Genius! They used berry wreaths... pretty, just not shown in my colors. If you don't have the book, I suggest you get one.
A few vintage ones here... the pink ones.
A simple pale pink bow... because I have yet to take the steps needed to learn how to make a fancy one! LOL Maybe I'll go check out Martha right now.... And a vintage bell hanging from it. I glittered already glittered snow flakes, with glass glitter for an older look. I also tucked in a few vintage pink and wispy velvet sprigs.
A curly bird and a speckled vintage leaf from an old hat.
Finally, a silver star and a broken bird ornament... it's the pink feathers... all that was left, up there (broken, compliments of my little man). After I completed this wreath, I took it outside and placed it on my front door.... Nothing near what I had envisioned it to look like. We have brown front doors, and I was not loving the brown with the off white for some odd reason. I cheerfully suggested, to my husband, that we repaint. Needless to say, he found no humor in that comment. I just took his look as a no and went inside where I place the wreath on the mantle above our stove. It's funny, I've been wanting a wreath for there and this one looks like it was made for that spot! Funny how it all works out in the end. I am just glad I did not make both of them right away!
It's snowing here, now! The girls were brave and ventured outside, I 'm here in my cozy kitchen watching them through the back doors. Yes, Christmas is in full swing! I am finally done my Christmas shopping! Hooray! Decorating... done! The Christmas crafting is pretty well completed as well. There may be a few simple projects yet... I guess, I really should be complete. I think I started crafting Christmas right after Halloween. It seems I've been working on some sort of wreath or cottage continuously since then. I was looking at my Flicker info, one wreath that I have not blogged yet, I photographed in early November. I seem to prefer posting Christmas crafts after Thanksgiving... I wasn't in the holiday spirit until then. I certainly am now! Now, comes the baking!
Your wreath is so dreamy! I don't think I'd want to put something that pretty outside. Beautiful!!

Very gorgeous. It turned out beautifully. I understand the reluctance to use 'good' baubles. I'm adding cheap baubles to the wreath I have one the back door in the kitchen, but I think it should look ok.
I treasure that book Merry & Bright. I put off buying it for a long time, then got it earlier on this year and just love that it's full of ideas. Another one is Victoria's 500 Christmas ideas. It's in similar vein, and is picture after picture of vignettes and suggestions. Very inspirational.
Have a lovely Sunday xxx
