Have a looksie at what I found the other day while I popped a new favorite antique store. I had just a little time 'till it was time to pick my daughter up from school and thought....
why not? Isn't it a beautiful box? A beautiful chocolate box found right in time for Valentines day. I guess it could have also been given for Easter, or any day really.

I'd like to think it was from a young man for his sweetheart, for Valentines Day!
How romantic!! It's from a chocolate shop called
Booth's in Elmira, N.Y.

And look at what's inside!! The young man's sweetheart saved even the wrappers! I was so surprised. For me, a beautiful old box with no chocolates is much better than a new box filled with the most delicious chocolates.... better for my waistline too!
Found my way here via M @ Tales from an OC Cottage...BEAUTIFUL blog...I love it! I also loved your new year's countdown w/ the kids...what fun!

What a beautiful find. Love the pretty flowers on top. They just don't make things like they used to. And for a girl to keep in that mint condition it must have been love!

Hi Gabrielle,
I recently found your blog and just LOVE IT!!! I just love your style. It is actually the way I would have my home if I didn't have 2 big dogs that love dirt and a husband that didn't love the darker colors :( I cherish all the vintage items you highlight in your photos. I have a lot of similar items that my parents had when I was growing up. My dad, bless his soul, was such a sucker for Valentines day. I remember how found he was of the old fashioned decorated Valentines candy boxes. Even when I did buy new boxes of candy for him, they always had to be the fancy flower or velvet decorated ones! Your post made me think of that memory about him :)
Thanks for creating a blog with such wonderful eye candy. I love to look at your photos as they make me dream and get inspired. I have put a link to your blog and flickr photos on my blog for my readers. They need to see your lovliness!!!! I must share all of your goodies...they are too YUMMY!
Looking forward to more pics and stories in the future.
Have a wonderful day!!
XoXo

gosh what a find. So beautiful.
The recipient is like me ~ I do that! Which most time is sweet, but sometimes totally annoying. My favourite Big Treat for myself are the pink champagne truffles from Charbonnel & Walker. A treat because they are so rich, so I make them last. I keep the boxes as they are pretty and pink. Last year, I was moving one of the empty boxes to use in a display, and felt something move inside. I opened it up and found two - TWO - uneaten pink champers truffles!!! Arrggh. Looked at the date, and of course, they were out of date. So annoyed with myself! What an idiot! I took so long to scoff them, that I'd completely forgotten about them. Grr. STill, at least one day in the future, someone who loves such boxes will open it and be delighted to find not only the little cases, but two chocs rolling about inside!!! ;o)

Oh what a sweet find! And so many stories can be made up about it. Was the giver a young man or an old man? A father or a husband? So much to dream about. All from a pretty little box. Come for a visit.
